Spreadsheets

Its nearly 30 years since the first spreadsheet program appeared in 1979 (Visicalc is its name if you don't already know). I used my first spreadsheet back in 1985 on my old Acorn Electron: it was part of a package called Mini Office. Due to my interest in spreadsheets ever since I thought it would be useful to create my own spreadsheet API/GUI which you can read about here:

It follows the old fashioned view of a spreadsheet, which is simply a table of cells, with each cell containing some text, a number, or a formula that could refer to other cells. Modern spreadsheet programs have evolved to the point that the core spreadsheet element is now submerged into a minestrone of other facilities relating to databases, wordprocessing, DTP, graphing, and scripting which modern office workers have become dependent on for 'productivity'.
